This article provides an analysis of the texts collected in section M of the testimonia of TrGF IV. The historical authenticity of the heroic cult dedicated to Sophocles and, in particular, his identification with the hero Δεξίων is questioned. In the light of these observations, the proposal is made to label testt. 70s. as testimonia dubia or, alternatively, to exclude them from any future edition.
