This paper reconsiders the relationship between two verses of Philicus (SH 676 and 677) quoted by Hephaestion (30,21-31,13). Gallavotti (1931) attributed the two verses to Philicus’ Hymn to Demeter and joined them both to PSI 1282. This hypothesis has been accepted by all subsequent scholars, but it is likely that the two verses belong to different poems. If so, it is also possible to re-evaluate the attribution of fragment Adesp. SH 993 (= P. Mich. 4336) to Philicus.
